The Christmas season is a glorious reminder that God is not a distant Creator who is detached from worldly events. The appearance here of the angel Gabriel with his momentous announcement of the coming birth of the Messiah is carefully timed. Social unrest in the ancient world was causing many to look for relief.
The angel’s assertion that Mary will bear a child even though she is a virgin is sometimes dismissed as a Greek myth. The birth of Jesus has brought peace, hope and assurance to believers. Despite all troubles, in the world, the birth of Jesus still gives us the relief that a deliverer has come to redeem His people and to save them.
Christmas is a season of hope, a season of love, a season of blessings. As Children of God we should extend love to the less privileged this season and also bring hope to the hopeless in our midst.
The year 2020 has witnessed a lot of disappointments to many, whereby, many people lost their lives through Corona Virus and other ailments, the #EndSars protest has also brought a lot of damages and killings in the country, but we can still count our blessings for being alive today to witness this year Christmas. Like the Hymn 399 written by Charles Wesley, 1707-88.
“What shall I render to my God
For all His mercy’s store?
I’ll take the gifts He hath bestowed
And humbly ask for more”.
Beloved in the Lord at this Christmas Season, let us count all the blessings received from God and be ready to appreciate Him and also do more for His work.
As you celebrate this year’s Christmas may it be the best Christmas ever.
Warmest wishes to you and your family.
Have a great and Wonderful Christmas and New Year!
My Episcopal blessings to you
