We Live to Glorify God in All We Do
In response to a call by freed African slaves that had returned to Nigeria, The Rev'd Thomas Birch Freeman, sent by the Wesleyan Missionary Society of the United Kingdom, arrived Badagry on September 24, 1842 and began the first Christian mission in Nigeria.
Subsequently, the Primitive Methodist Mission came in through James Town in the present day Mbo LGA of Akwa Ibom State on March 4, 1896 led by The Rev'd and Mrs. T. T. Stone and an indigenous teaching evangelist called Mr. Effah.
The merger of the two Methodist Mission Groups formed Methodist Church Nigeria.
