The 37th Annual Synod of Diocese of Igbobini was held at Diocesan headquarters at Okitipupa with the theme: “Here am I, Send Me” (Isaiah 6:8b). The Synod was presided over by His Grace, The Most Rev. Olugbenga O.C. Fafeyiwa, the Archbishop and Bishop of Archdiocese/Diocese of Igbobini respectively, also present were former Archdiocesan Lay-President of Archdiocese of Igbobini Sir Dr. Ibukun Omotehinse. Others include Dr. Akinola Olakunde ably represented by Sir Wumi Akinmoju (KCW) and Sir Dr. Olu Olakunde (KJW)

  1. Synod commends the efforts of Federal Government, Churches and individuals in combating Corona virus, COVID-19 pandemic that is ravaging the whole world.
  2. Synod emphasizes the need for all tiers of Government and indeed well meaning Nigerians to now plan to build best and well equipped hospitals around the Country bearing in mind that we have trained and qualified personnel around the globe who can bring back and be paid adequately to manage our hospitals. This will help us to avoid fire brigade approach in case of future emergencies.
  3. Synod calls on Federal Government to be careful with various explosions not to attract World War 3 and that we should learn from the experiences of Rwanda, Burundi, Iraq, Iran, Libya and Syria just to mention but a few.
  4. Synod enjoins Federal, State and Local Governments to vehemently fight corruption which is capable of destroying us if not fast and quickly destroyed.
  5. Synod condemns the rate of killing, rape, theft, kidnapping and other atrocities in many quarters of the Country. Human life is no longer accorded the right dignity. As a nation, Synod believes that we must address issues bordering on our safety, security and peaceful co-existence.
  6. Synod commends South Western State Government on the security initiative “Amotekun” and strongly pleads that honesty, integrity, dedication and commitment should be their watch word.
  7. Synod observes that at 60, Nigeria finds it difficult to conduct fraud and violent-free election, Synod therefore, pleads for good leadership and governance and should not see politics as do or die affair.
  8. Synod pleads with Ondo State Government to consider payment of pension and gratuity of retired civil servants in the state.
  9. Synod observes the deplorable situation of some of our roads and lack of electricity among others and therefore pleads with Ondo State government to ensure construction of good roads and restore electricity to Okitipupa and its environs.
